Knoxville, Tenn.- The UIC baseball team overcame a four-run deficit with five unanswered runs in the final two innings to defeat 19th-ranked Tennessee, 6-5, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Friday.

Micky Pingree went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI, while Chad Schroeder and Ben Trotter also drove in runs.

Larry Gempp Jr. was 3-for-5 at the dish with a run scored. Nick Rainwater had a 2-for-4 day in the batter's box.

"I was really pleased that our guys played nine innings today, and that has been an encouraging pattern for us all year," said UIC head coach Mike Dee.

UIC (3-4) fell behind after the host Vols (6-6) scored three times in the bottom of the first off of starter Zach Peterson.

The Flames got on the board in the third when Schroeder brought in Rainwater from third on a single.

USA Hockey’s Largest-Ever National Indoor Tournament to Open in ...

Initiated in 1980, the National Indoor Tournament has quickly become one of the sport's premier off-season events. Once considered no more than a wintertime diversion, the game has grown to a full-time devotion for athletes looking to hone their skills and impress collegiate recruiters. The popularity of the event has spawned a qualification process where Under-19 and Under-16 teams earn berths in the National Tournament through performances at regional qualifying events held throughout the winter.

The tournament features teams from 12 states including California, Delaware, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Host-state Virginia has 15 entries in the tournament including U14 teams Rampage (Centreville), Peninsula Storm (Gloucester), Tidewater Thriller (Yorktown) and Typhoon Canes (Fredericksburg).

Jackiey: 'I was attacked by 4 men'

Jackiey fled from her home in Peter Butler House after yobs threw stones at her flat and chanted abuse after she left the Channel 4 show last month.

She said: "I'm all right now although it was frightening at the time.

"I was with the police all Friday and they're getting it sorted.

"I'm absolutely petrified.

"I thought my life was getting back to normal after everything that happened with Big Brother.

"But what happened on Friday has come as a real setback.

"I don't want to let these people force me out of my manor, that would mean they won.

"Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a bad person."

Jackiey became international news for her part in the Celebrity Big Brother race row last month.

Celtics Moving On After D.J.

I used to collect professional sports action figures called Starting Lineups as a kid, and still have them today.

One of the many sports heroes I own is former Celtics great Dennis Johnson. But at the time Dee Brown was hot on the scene for Boston, especially with his no-look jam in the 1991 Slam Dunk contest and black Reebok pumps with white laces.

Kenner didn't make a Brown Starting Lineup at the time, so I moronically decided to scrape off Johnson's last name and No. 3 on the toy to create my own #7. I obviously wasn't too familiar with Johnson but his play against the Detroit Pistons in the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals is my fondest memory. .
