Games: Multiplayer winner and two losers
"WarioWare: Smooth Moves" (Nintendo, for the Wii, $49.99). "Smooth Moves" is a collection of more than 200 "microgames," each about five seconds long, that require you to use the Wii's remote control in different ways. You may be asked to hold it like bicycle handlebars, a barbell or a telephone; as the events get sillier, you hold it in front of your nose or on top of your head. You'll find yourself flapping your arms, swiveling your hips, squatting and jumping. Each round consists of 10 to 20 microgames that seem to come more quickly as the game progresses, and half the battle is figuring out what the game wants you to do before time runs out. The main multiplayer challenge is like a game of hot potato in which you pass the remote each time a new game starts. Three stars out of four.
Mayshack hits game-winner for Eagles
CHARLOTTE -- Chris Mayshack had to hit one big shot to extend his college basketball career at N.C. Central. And with 37 seconds left Wednesday night, the senior out of Riverside High came through. Mayshack's 3-pointer from the right wing provided the final points of a 75-74 victory over St. Paul's in the first-round nightcap of the CIAA Men's Basketball Tournament at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. "Close games are what tournaments are all about," NCCU coach Henry Dickerson said. "Close games let you know you can be beat. "I've seen Chris make that shot in the gym every day. I'm glad he hit that one." The win denied the Tigers what would have been one of the bigger wins in their school history, as they came back from an 18-point deficit with 14:36 remaining. No. 8 seed NCCU (13-14), which will need to win the tournament to finish with a winning season in the Eagles' final season in NCAA Division II, takes on top-seeded and three-time defending champion Virginia Union (19-4) in the quarterfinals tonight at 9 p.m.

Ohio recruiter wins $3000 on game show
A newly promoted staff noncommissioned officer with Recruiting Station Cleveland won $3,067, thanks to the Ohio Lottery. Staff Sgt. John Chenoweth, a recruiter at Recruiting Sub Station Mentor, Ohio, won the money on the lottery's "Make Me Famous, Make Me Rich" television game show. Chenoweth, 28, walked next door to his RSS recently to a check-cashing business that also sells sodas, candy and lottery tickets and bought a random scratch-off ticket, he said. The ticket the cashier selected for Chenoweth's $2 was a "Make Me Famous, Make Me Rich Extended Play" instant ticket. The player scratches the card to reveal a possible instant cash win or, "if you get three [boxes on the ticket] that say 'make me rich,' you can send your name in" along with the ticket to try for a spot on the game show, Chenoweth said.
