[PR] Connected Gaming with RumbleX 2.0

RumbleX is the free community service for mobile gamers developed since 2005 by OrangePixel. Sporting 55.000 players, the system now contains over 283.000 high scores and is growing daily with hundreds of new scores on a daily basis. What's more important is the fact that this service is completely free to use.

Players can register for a free account and get advanced tracking of their gaming skills and achievements, while unregistered players can still enjoy the service but without accurate tracking.

RumbleX partnered up with clickgamer.com to supply players with an easy way to buy more RumbleX compatible games. And free AdWrapped versions of most of the games are available through gamejump.com

Developers can use the free "RumbleX Highscore" service in their games.

Wii Are No. 1

Nintendo's new Wii has become the best-selling video game system of any kind in January in the United States, and the fastest-selling new-generation home system. According to the independent NPD Group, Wii sold through 435,503 systems to customers in its January reporting period. By comparison, that's 70 percent higher than any other new video game system in its first January of availability during the last 10 years.

In addition, Nintendo DS once again triumphed as the top-selling portable system, with nearly 239,000 hardware and more than 2.4 million software units sold. In combination, Nintendo game systems accounted for nearly as many unit sales (46 percent of the total market) as those of all other manufacturers combined.

The continuing success of Wii and DS demonstrates that the public has embraced Nintendo's philosophy of entertaining current gamers in new ways, and expanding gaming for the masses.

Cartoon Network Reveals New Shows

Cartoon Network today announced its programming line-up for 2007 at its annual Upfront event in New York City. The slate will offer five new original series, including Re-Animated, an extension of the networks first movie featuring live-action and animation. The network also announced a second season of Class of 3000 starring Andre Benjamin and unveiled multi-media events, a new mobile phone initiative and a new after-school franchise. In addition, the presentation featured a sneak peek at its massively multi-player game for 2008 and announced a live-action Ben 10 movie in production.

The new series Santo (working title) is described as comic-book-style action- adventure series based on the legend of real-life Mexican wrestling hero Santo, El Enmascarado de Plata (the silver masked man).

Forty names, games, teams and minutiae making news in college ...

It was a swell idea for a moment, but that moment has passed. Arena color-outs -- an orange-out here, a blue-out there, here a red-out, there a blackout, everywhere a whiteout -- have gone from a nice novelty to an annoying clich faster than Oklahoma State (2) has gone from the Top 25 to the NIT.

While it's fun to see rich old people in the lower arena peer-pressured into putting on cheap T-shirts, and it's nice for the college kids to get free swag, this made-for-TV, copycat monochrome mania has swept the nation and played itself out. Next year, folks, go back to wearing what you want to the gym.

If The Minutes wants to see 10,000 people dressed alike, it will watch old tapes of the Red Army on parade in Moscow.

THE CRAVE GAMING CHANNEL

If Nintendo taught us anything in back in 1996, it's that people have an obsession with catching, training, and growing attached to creatures only to make them fight to the death for a greater good. It's a theory that's tested and true, and it seems like every developer has dipped into its addictive gameplay at least once. Now it's Buena Vista Games, now known as Disney Interactive Studios, turn to try their hand at it.

Carbon Leaves Its Predecessors In the Dust

Players got their first taste of Need for Speed in 1994. Since then, the venerable franchise has continued to raise the bar for racing games. Whether it's running from the cops in Hot Pursuit, ruling the streets in Underground or making a name for yourself in Most Wanted, EA has always managed to deliver some of the best racing action around, and Need for Speed Carbon takes the series to another level.

Players spend a good chunk of time in Career mode, where they'll battle rival racers. A new feature is racing crews. As players move up in rankings, they can recruit other racers to become part of their crew. Crew members have different classifications (drafter, scout and blocker), and using them is pretty cool. Drafters let you draft them before slinging you ahead. Scouts race up front and search for shortcuts.
