This 'N' That No shortage of badonkadonks on the streets of Hollywood!

Writes The Monkey Lover's Wife of Northfield: "So I was catching three minutes of the pre-Oscar red carpet schmoozing on E! television, and their fashion commentator was describing the back of someone's dress. The commentator mentioned the hourglass shape of her back straps, leading directly to her 'badonkadonk'! Thanks to Bulletin Board, I knew what he was talking about, and I didn't have to feel like a bumpkin.

"Also: I forgot to mention that way back in October, I had a 'power of 3' moment like never before. ('Power of 3' moments happen when things I haven't noticed before come in threes. Some people believe deaths happen this way. They are very much like B-Ms or J-of-Js, but more spread out, I guess.) Anyway, to pass the time when we drove to Door County for our August vacation, 6-year-old Bananagirl and I watched for different license plates, to see how many states we could find.

This Thread is about God Hand

I've been playing it almost solidly since 12:30, stuck on the Stage 3 boss. Stuck as in getting better every time I do it, knowing that I only get hurt if I make a mistake. It's so hard, but so damned fair. It's unbelievable. If you screw up, you get hurt, if you don't you feel amazing pasting these guys without getting hit. But if you get too good the game starts to get harder, the difficulty levels up as you get hits without being hit. It's ingenious. Being shite at memorizing button combos, this is absolutely perfectly suited to me because instead you just select moves for each button and a few basic combinations (down and each button), and get more and more moves as you go on. Special moves are integrated fantastically, you have to put just as much thought into using them as any other moves to get the most out of them, it's not just a big nuke.

Cards make it 3-for-3

GEORGETOWN - Scott County's top-rated boys' basketball team fought off a spirited challenge from Bryan Station last night for the third time this season, and the Cardinals have a 42nd District title to show for it.

Bud Mackey had 23 points and Matt Walls had 20, but it was Scott County's defense that delivered in the clutch as the hosts pulled out a 74-69 victory before a packed house of 2,400 fans.

"As much offense as there was, defense won it for us," Cardinals Coach Billy Hicks said, noting contributions from Jordan Lee and Jimmie Warren in the final minutes.

Mackey and Lee had their own theories on what saved Scott County.

"Heart, baby, that's what pulled us through," said Mackey, who had eight rebounds and four assists.

"We just come together and stay strong when it's a close game," said Walls, who added nine rebounds.

Spotlight: Hovr Brings Ad-Supported Games with Social Networking ...

Vipul Sawhney, Founder and CEO of Hovr, an ad-supported mobile games company, noticed a statistical disparity signaling an opportunity. "Roughly a third of mobile subscribers say, ‘Yes, I’ve played some sort of game on my mobile phone,’" he said. "But only about 2-3% of a carrier’s subscriber base actually goes and purchases a game." Sawhney believes it is the outdated model – not consumer interest – that has caused the mobile games market, currently bringing in just over $1 billion worldwide, to plateau.

"The large majority of subscribers are either playing a game that came with their phone, or free demos," said Sawhney. "So why are people not downloading and purchasing more? The research shows the issue is price. It’s an expensive proposition (to add $5-$7 games) when your cell phone bill is already around $60 per month."

Mobile carriers have long been reluctant to provide free content beyond the basics that come with a phone plan. Given the demand Sawhney indicated, we would assume carriers are reaping the benefits of customer add-ons. But it’s just the opposite. "What we’re seeing is that in the mobile market, almost 100% of the content you can add to your phone is premium content that you have to pay for," said Sawhney. "You’re paying $2 for a ringtone when you could get the full song for 99 cents on iTunes, or paying $6-$7 for a simple Pacman game when you could play it for free at Yahoo Games."

It’s the nonsensical pricing of premium mobile content that has consumers unwilling to adopt at the rate they would like to. Sawhney compared the potential of the mobile market to cable, pointing out that cable packages have plenty of ad-supported, free content. But why not mobile carriers as well? After all, as Sawhney said, "Advertisers are really interested in this medium, and really eager to subsidize the content."

That’s doubly true when you consider Hovr’s advertising technology.
