| Social Media Marketing - the Latest Buzz
When Strategic Marketing Montreal (SMM) came on the scene in 2002, there was very little confusing competition for that acronym, SMM. There was indeed the Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM), the international SMM Fair covering shipbuilding, machinery & marine technology, the Society for Marine Mammalogy (SMM), the Solar Maximum Mission (SMM), the American Shrine to Music Museum (SMM) and a few others. All that was bearable. However over the last year SMM has taken on another meaning that is fittingly spreading like wildfire. It’s SMM for Social Media Marketing. Wikipedia has a good definition of Social Media. Social media describes the online technologies and practices that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives with each other.

New Music: Andrew Bird: "Imitosis" [MySpace]
"Itimosis", from Andrew Bird's upcoming Armchair Apocrypha, is a reworking of a track called "I" (which, in concert, is sometimes called "Capital I") from his 2003 album Weather Systems. The biggest difference is the song's percussion: "Imitosis" has a Latin beat which, once the strings swoop in, begins to sound something like a tango. Here, Bird compares cellular behavior to human behavior: "What is mistaken for closeness/ Is just a case of mitosis," he sings. Like a lot of his lyrics, it's a little too clever. Notes: Livan handles heavy workload
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Livan Hernandez said he typically does not have good Spring Trainings, but he didn't look too shabby in his first outing on Friday. "Outstanding," manager Bob Melvin said of Hernandez, who allowed one run on three hits over three innings. Hernandez threw 52 pitches, which is more than most starters throw their first time out, but he likes a heavy workload early in the spring to help strengthen his arm. Veteran pitchers like Hernandez typically use Spring Training to get their work in, and if they post good numbers, it's just a bonus. "He made some pitches when he had to," Melvin said. "For a guy like him, it's more about work, but it looked like he competed pretty hard when he had to today." Hernandez said he was pleased with his curveball, but the right-hander is still working on perfecting his two-seam sinking fastball.
Gameloft is Flying High After Deal or No Deal Hits the Number 1 Spot
'Deal or No Deal' featuring TV host Noel Edmonds, released into the UK market in November 2006 and went straight in at the number one spot, where it has been for the past three consecutive months. Gameloft's other best sellers include the recently launched 'Desperate Housewives', which is now in the top three spot within the O2 weekly chart report. "Deal or No Deal has taken the mobile game markets by storm," said Alexandre Tan Country Manager at Gameloft UK. "We knew that with such a strong mass market licence the game would do well, but the actual results have been absolutely incredible," said Tan. "The success of Desperate Housewives is confirming that our commercial and licensing strategy is paying off and reinforces that mobile gaming is a truly mass market, with a huge interest from women and other non classic video games addicts." To date 'Deal or No Deal' has already generated sales in excess of half a million units in the UK, all within a four month time period.
